The Intensive Care and Coronary
Care Unit
The Intensive Care and Coronary Care unit is a nine-bedded
combined unit and has been continuously modernised
since November 1998. Applying the latest in equipment
and techniques the Unit provides the highest possible
standards of care.
The unit caters for a wide range of patients including those who have
undergone extensive general surgery and the unit also provides cardiac
services including management of patients with chest pain and follow-up
care post angiography procedures.
The Unit also facilitates post-graduate nurse education
in Critical Care Nursing. There are Critical Care Nursing
students from University College Cork on rotation through
the unit on a continuous basis. All nursing staff members
within the unit undertake this course. The Unit promotes
continuous professional development among the staff to
ensure delivery of high quality patient care.
