The hospital commenced the construction of a major
expansion in April 2004, which will be completed in April
2006. The focus of the new development is the expansion and
modernisation of theatre and support CSSD departments. The
new building has doubled our surgical capacity and comprises:
- 4 Main Operating Theatres (including 2 ultra clean
air).
- 2 Endoscopy Rooms.
- 3 Minor Procedures Rooms.
- Associated CSSD and Recovery facilities.
- New Radiology Department
The new building also incorporates a dedicated 22
bed Patient Accommodation Unit, mainly for Daycases but also facilitating overnight stays.
The new Radiology Department houses a Screening Room,
General X-ray, Mammography, Ultrasound and Densitometry.
The development also includes modification of the existing
building including new entrance and Reception Area, new
Laboratory, High Dependency Unit and additional in-patient
bedrooms.
